          if remembered, 2003

If Remembered is a series about the women in my family tree. Many of their stories are untold and unremembered. The paintings in this series are impressions of their experiences as I imagine they might have been. I do not claim to be accurate in my depictions of these women. Nor do I wish to gloss over or stand in judgment of my ancestors' beliefs or actions. This show is a series of portraits, but not in the traditional sense of the word. What I have tried to depict is one element of each woman's life that I feel has a universal quality. If Remembered was exhibited in Gallery Lambton, Sarnia, Ontario, in February, 2003.
