On a Saturday morning in July we explored and encountered the Canatara Park shoreline paying particular attention to the sand dunes. Learning about this phenomenal ecosystem with Larry we were invited to reflect upon our existence within it. In the afternoon Mary taught us the basics of making a mosaic. Using this art form and the multitude of supplies provided, we translated our morning experience and reflections into a mosaic that we took home with us. Weeks later my life and artwork is still being influenced by the depth of their guidance. I hope to take another workshop like this in the future. Jan K.

Visible along tidal shorelines, wrack lines mark the edges between high tide’s furthest reach and dry land. Wrack lines are places of turbulence and transition where only the resilient can survive.
Paying close attention to the natural world helps us to appreciate and enter into relationship with our planet’s biodiversity. Explore Woody Point’s wrack line with artist, Mary Abma. Engaging in intentional practices of noticing, participants will use a variety of lenses to observe and appreciate the tiny organisms that compose the wrack line.
Workshop Schedule:

Lunch: Lunch is not provided but I will reserve a table at a local restaurant (TBD) for those would like to eat out together.
